Basic Window Treatment Installation
Installing window treatments is one of the most popular home improvement projects. The reason for this is simple—it is a job most people can handle on their own. In this article we are going to take you through the process from start to finish. And do not worry, it will be a short trip.
Where to start? There first thing you must do is measure each window that will need a blind. Use a tape measure and record the height and width from the inside of the window frame. You may need someone to help you measure or to take down the numbers.
Later, when you go shopping for window blinds, give these numbers to the window treatment specialist. Let him know that you measured the windows from the inside of the window frame. Since most windows are standard sizes, in all likelihood there will be a bevy of blinds from which to choose.
Once you have purchased a set of blinds, open the box and lay the equipment on the floor in front of the window. Though each box will include its own instructions, installation is fairly standard. You will need a stepladder and a power drill. That is all.
Blinds are suspended from the top of the window frame from metal brackets that will be included with the set. These metal brackets must be screwed into place on the inside of the window frame, one on each side. Once the brackets are in place, you can insert the main rod into the brackets and cover it with the valence. Then you can move on to the next window.
