So... what is DIY?
DIY stands for Do It Yourself and has a number of implications, both in and out of the home. The traditional image of DIY is the man of the house dusting off the paint rollers or putting up a wonky shelf. The term has since taken on much wider connotations and covers a far wider area.
Do it yourself now enters into the world of maintaining your own possessions and mending broken items. The can even stretch to car repair, although do be careful to read your Car Insurance policy before attempting to fix major faults with double sided tape.
Do it yourself has even spread into the kitchen, the garden and even the workplace in certain domains. It would seem the DIY revolution has taken over almost everything when it comes to saving a penny here and there.
Doing something for yourself can carry one or two risks however and it's always best to hire an expert when you need to. Having said this, it can be fun learning new skills and many of us enjoy revving up our new power tool and unleashing carnage amongst our old décor.
So that's DIY. Make sure to only do what your capable of and the rest remains up to you, whether it be in the house, amongst your smaller possessions or in the garden.
